01
Highly Filled Mineral Systems
Includes mineral fillers such as CaCO3, talc, wollastonite, diatomaceous earth in resin systems including PET, LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, PP, PS, ABS, PUR. These systems are used for cost reduction, barrier applications and enhancing physical properties and appearance.
Industries: Automotive, Medical, Industrial
High Specific Gravity Compounds
Metal powders and mineral fillers can be used to increase the density of the plastic compound to give products more heft and the feel of metal or ceramic. The benefits include metallic surface effects, vibration dampening and in some aquatic applications reduce buoyancy.
Industries: Packaging, Magnets, Consumer goods
Thermally Sensitive Processes
Processes where exact temperature control is required to prevent degradation, decomposition or activation of functional additives. For example peroxide, Foaming Agents, Flame retardants.
Industries: Construction, Wire and Cable.
Shear Sensitive Applications
Processes where distributive mixing and controlled shear rates needed to preserve the structure and integrity of the fillers and modifiers, often associated with conductive applications. Resins are considered shear sensitive when their viscosity is dependent upon the shear rate such as PC, PET, PS, and Acetyl.
Industries: Wire & Cable, Electronics
05
Flame Retardants
Halogenated FR’s with chlorine and bromine and non-halogenated FR’s with metal hydroxides. These materials are added to polymers to delay the ignition of burning materials, reduce flame spread and suppress smoke. They elicit endothermic or exothermic reactions under controlled conditions and impart specific properties.
Industries: Wire & Cable, Aerospace, Automotive, Textiles
06
Foaming Agent Masterbatches
Endothermic and exothermic masterbatches which decompose in secondary processes and are used to lighten parts, improve surface finishes, and enhance insulation properties.
Industries : Wire & Cable. Packaging, Consumer goods, Construction, Automotive, Aerospace
07
Reinforcing Agents and Additives
Including fiberglass, cellulose/wood/natural fibers, and mineral fillers, often used in resin systems such as TPE, PA, PE, PP, PC. They improve physical properties such as mechanical strength, impact strength and thermal expansion.
Industries : Consumer goods, Construction, Automotive, Aerospace
08
Additive and Stabilizer Packages
These include UV, slip, anti-static, and anti-block. They are commonly used in film applications, outdoor applications and electronics. Carrier resins include PP, PE, LLDPE, PET, and TPU.
Industries : Packaging for food and electronics, Automotive, Aerospace, Medical
09
Liquid Injection
Oil, plasticizer, wax and fragrance injection into EVA, PE, PVC, TPE.
Industries include Packaging for food, Automotive, Consumer Goods, Sanitation and Janitorial (San-Jan)
10
Film Applications
By adding, slip, antistat & antiblock masterbatches to the primary resin system these we can reduce static buildup and adherence problems often associated with film applications.
Industries: Packaging for food, beverage, healthcare, home and personal care products.
11
Low Bulk Density Fillers
Low bulk density fillers such as fumed silica, nano clays and similar materials where large the amounts of surface area are used to increase viscosity and improve physical properties. Other low bulk density materials such as microspheres which are used for weight reduction, insulating and sound dampening properties and to minimize resin use and mold shrinkage.
Industries : adhesives, automotive, construction, packaging, aerospace
12
Ecofriendly Masterbatches
Poly Compounding has worked with several clients on masterbatch additives for recyclability and biodegradability. We have also worked with clients developing natural fiber reinforced plastics.
13
Specialty Applications
We have worked with several companies on specialty products ranging from adhesive coatings to X-Ray diffraction, peroxide masterbatches, fragrances, antimony oxide, metal fillers, nanoclays and toner.
14
Reactive Processes
Cross linking peroxide masterbatches, & epoxy cures. These materials are used in Polyolefin based systems and are designed to react under controlled conditions in secondary processes.
